The Planideras home is our most recent flip. We bought it because the view was extraordinary. We thought it would be a pretty straight-forward fixer upper. We were wrong. Among the many issues, we have absolutely no idea how this house was actually standing. There were very little wood beams holding up the walls and no insulation between the dry wall. It must have been freezing in the winter and hot as hell in the summer. In addition to the lack of wall support, there were three roofs. Yes, three. When we went to remove the roof to redo it, we discover one, then two and then three roofs. Apparently they decided why remove a roof before adding another one when you can just put one on top of the other. No words.
We ended up leveling the house and starting over. Which was a good thing. We got to do it our way without any restrictions. I had a hard time not selling our current house and moving into this one when it was finished. Ultimately we decided to stay where we were, but I agonized over it for months. I like the old maintained character of our home. The concrete block walls and reclaimed barn wood floors, the brick spread throughout and the massive garage doors in the living room and game room. Hard to turn your back on that.
This is the view from every room in the house. Extraordinary right?
JJ built this front door. It’s one of my favorite features. One of the most incredible things about this house is opening that front door to the view. It is truly a breathtaking moment every single time you do it.
This is the main room and what you walk into when you enter the house. I love these floors. They are still rustic but have a modern flair. The fireplace is one of my most favorite things ever. It was one of those things that made it hard for me to walk away from on this home.
I wanted to add a more gold/copper feel in this kitchen as it is the it thing right now. Both sinks are gold and the backsplash and counter top have gold in the marbling. The glass lights above the island keep the kitchen light an airy.
Can’t you just imagine soaking in this tub with a glass of wine, staring out at the view and day dreaming about everything that makes you happy?
Speaking of soaking with a glass of wine. This needs no words.
